Child Safety Standards

Protecting children on CatRealm

CatRealm has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. These published standards apply to CatRealm Central and the official CatRealm apps.

Effective November 6, 2026.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Do not download, save, forward, or publicly repost suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in order to report it.

1. Prohibited conduct and content

CatRealm prohibits:

Attempting to evade detection or an account restriction is also prohibited. CatRealm Central accounts are limited to people age 18 or older.

2. How to report

  1. In an official CatRealm app, open the message's actions and choose Report image or link.
  2. Select the item and child-safety reason, add optional context, and submit.
  3. The reported item is hidden for you immediately. CatRealm receives only the selected report evidence for review; unrelated end-to-end encrypted DM content remains private.

You may also report privately to [email protected]. Include account and message identifiers when available, but do not attach or forward suspected CSAM by email. Reports concerning content hosted by an independent Realm should also be sent to that Realm's operator.

In the United States, you can make a report through the NCMEC CyberTipline. Outside the United States, INHOPE can help locate a national reporting hotline.

3. What happens after a report

CatRealm may temporarily prevent the reported sender from uploading media or sending links while a report is reviewed. A group item may be hidden for all members after reports from multiple distinct members. We use measures intended to limit coordinated or duplicate-report abuse.

Trained, authorized reviewers may confirm, dismiss, preserve, or escalate a report. Access to submitted evidence is limited and logged. Confirmed violations may result in content removal, account restriction or termination, preservation required by law, and blocking associated uploads from being served.

4. Reporting to authorities

When CatRealm obtains actual knowledge of apparent CSAM on systems it controls, CatRealm will preserve and report it as required by applicable law, including reporting to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States or the appropriate authority in another jurisdiction. CatRealm will cooperate with lawful requests while minimizing unnecessary access to harmful material.

5. Independent Realms

Self-hosted Realms are independently operated services. Their operators control Realm-hosted messages, media, moderation, logs, and backups and are responsible for their own legal reporting obligations. The CatRealm software provides Realm-local reporting and moderation capabilities, but CatRealm Central cannot guarantee removal from an independent operator's systems.

If a report identifies a Central account, CatRealm may act on that Central account based on verified information even when the underlying event occurred on an independent Realm.

6. Contact and review

Child-safety contact: [email protected]. Privacy contact: [email protected]. CatRealm reviews these standards and its reporting processes as the service and applicable law change.
